Three manul kittens leaving their den for the first time: Video update

I made it to manul camp in eastern Mongolia and yes, at long last, there are manuls.

I’ll have a lot more to say about the trip in a future newsletter — the conditions on the steppe, the cats we’re seeing and the other wildlife around. But for now, wanted you to be the first to see footage from this morning of a den near camp.

We found these three kittens last night, and they’re just about ready to start venturing out of their den. We think they’re about 3-4 weeks old and don’t worry, their mom was watching from a ridge line above.
